Yandina Creek wetlands are former cane farming land being restored as wetland by UnityWater, to improve the health of the rivers and creeks in the area.

Unitywater engaged Verterra for a variety of monitoring and assessment services at Yandina Creek Wetlands.

Services included monthly water quality sampling services from six locations upstream and downstream on Yandina Creek and the small southern creek; photo-point monitoring of vegetation twice yearly; detailed annual assessment across the three identified vegetation communities; and weed maintenance and additional monitoring as required.

Prior to engagement for the water quality and vegetation monitoring, Verterra provided services for removal of the tidal gates.

Subsequently, Verterra assisted Unitywater in providing aerial footage of the wetland for their Wetland “Vlog,” in conjunction with the regular water and vegetation monitoring.

Verterra also developed an innovative solution for capturing water flow data on open flood gate culverts and provided Unitywater with tidal flow rates and volumes.
