Minesite, tailings dam and degraded land rehabilitation
Minesites, tailings dams degraded lands all present relatively hostile site conditions that require a detailed understanding of plant-soil water-environmental interactions to achieve successful rehabilitation.
In addition to this fundamental understanding, and where appropriate, Verterra aims to go beyond conventional rehabilitation by introducing productive land systems that accelerate the rehabilitation process, reduce costs and generate enhanced productivity and value from rehabilitated land.
In central Queensland, we have pioneered novel approaches to the successful re-establishment of threatened semi-evergreen vine thicket (SEVT) communities on reformed mine sites.
Rehabilitation services provided by us include:
- Research to optimise site rehabilitation options
- Integrated grazing and timber production
- Commercial timber and crop production
- Carbon sequestration
- Threatened vegetation community rehabilitation
- Biodiversity and landscape connectivity
